About the Window
Years of development and engineering went into this convertible top window bonding method. The objective was to design and develop a manufacturing method and process that would virtually eliminate window separation or leaking….the number one failure for glass window convertible tops.
The result was a patented production technology that involves wrapping the fabric around an internal ring that adheres to the glass. A new bonding agent was specially created by 3M engineers based on military specification during the development phase to ensure this adhesive, when applied in a multi-step automated process, could withstand extreme tension in all temperatures.
About the Material
Manufactured using premium Haartz Stayfast canvas, which is mold and mildew resistance and has superior resistance to long term exposure to the sun. Stayfast is a durable three-ply composite made of acrylic square weave outer fabric, a rubber inner layer, and a cotton lining.

I couldn’t be happier with the top. I got it within a month and installed it myself with the help of a friend and a pop riveter. Took about 7 hours and it wasn’t fun but I definitely recommend this top!
Replaced the top myself.. A local shop wanted $1000.. Took about 2 hrs to remove the top and about 4 to get the new one back on. Instructions provided from Autotops Direct is adequate.
Once the top is installed it will not close all the way, you need to let it stretch for a few hours to overnight to get the top to close. If you are mechanically inclined and with just a few basic tools and a pop riveter.. You can do this yourself.
Experience overall is great. Quality product. My new beetle looks brand new again.
