Your 1996-2002 BMW Z3 Replacement Convertible Top is manufactured using premium marine-grade English Green Twill canvas. We manufacture our 1996-2002 BMW Z3 convertible tops in the USA using the original vehicle’s patterns and specifications. The topping material was made in the same factory as the original BMW top, so the color, texture, look, and feel will match. The topping material is a three-ply composite made of acrylic twill weave outer fabric, a rubber inner layer, and a polyester lining fabric. It comes fully assembled and ready for immediate installation and requires no cutting or sewing. This convertible top incorporates the 1998 BMW technical redesign to address some deficiencies in earlier models. These improvements fit all model years of the Z3 and M Roadster. The three improvements include:

- adding elastic straps above the window to support the tension straps.
The convertible top window is a new plastic window with a very slight tint similar to the original. The window is sewn into the convertible top for strength and durability. The finished trim piping is included around the outer frame of the window, as shown in the image below.

Everything went smoothly, I got the top very quickly, and it is everything I expected! I had it professionally installed and am super pleased with it.
Picked up my Roadster at the trim shop last week. The install of the top seemed to go well. I asked the owner if the top was a good one and he said it was decent, I didn’t know what to make of that so I asked him what he meant. He said there were no surprises with the install and all the reinforcements and mounting points were present which was good. He said to leave the top up for at least a week to stretch out. I drove home in a monsoon and the right A pillar seal leaked like a sieve. I think it is where the top is real tight on the seal. I have not lowered it to check it yet. My major concern is that the top now is in contact with the roll bars in the back. I could see this as a potential wear location. Again I will have to see if that stretches over time. The top looks good and the color(English green)matched the original. We will see if I can get these other issues taken care of. Thanks for allowing feedback. Bill Robson

The on-line purchasing process was simple and easy. The pictures were clear and the information provided was helpful. The top was shipped to Canada and I was able to track the progress on line with UPS. The top arrived the the day after it was expected but that was an UPS issue. I had it professionally installed and it looks great. The installer said it was a well made top and as good as any he had seen. I had concerns at first but they proved to be unwarranted, great top!
