This 2000-2006 BMW 3 Series convertible top is manufactured from the factory original Haartz Twillfast RPC acoustically enhanced topping material.
WINDOW
The heated glass window has a factory tint and is DOT approved. The electrical connectors attach to your existing rear window defroster wiring harness. The convertible top window bonding system provides an exceptionally clean look and extremely secure bond guaranteed to not fail for five years to the original owner.
FABRIC
Manufactured using premium Haartz Twillfast RPC canvas, a superior quality topping with dobby backing. The topping material is an acoustically enhanced three-ply composite made of acrylic twill weave outer fabric, a rubber inner layer, and a polyester lining fabric. It provides up to 2dB (a noticeable) reduction to noise levels.
The Twillfast RPC convertible top for the E46 BMW is very much a well made product and for the price very much worth it. However there were a few areas during install where I realized the this top was not an exact match of the original.
The 2 main areas were:
1) Under the front of the convertible top there are 2 black metal stops that fit in the plastic overhang of the top. On the original the circular cutout for the metal stopper is about a 1/2 inch but on the one that I received the cutout was about 1/4 inch. Luckily I hadn’t thrown out the old bad top and realized that the reason it didn’t fit my 2002 E46 was because the hole size was incorrect.
2) There are a few clips that attach the rear window area to the upholstery and the plastic holes for the clips are not the same size as the original and this made it near impossible to get this area attached.
Outside of those complaints still worthwhile.
Everything looked of the highest quality. I thought I could install myself but there were no instructions or videos online. So I paid another $550 for a pro to do it. Luckily, you guys have great links to resources on your website for that. I also wished there were tint options for the rear glass. Now I have to figure that out too.
