DO YOU NEED A RAIN RAIL?
Although not necessary, you should at least read the following before deciding on replacing the rain rail when you are replacing your convertible top.
We offer both designs either with or without a rain rail. A rain rail is a U-shaped, molded ABS plastic piece that attaches to the rear bottom of the convertible top. It directs any water collected out drain holes to keep it from entering your interior cabin and trunk.
Unless your convertible top is leaking, you probably can reuse your existing rain rail, however, there is one good reason you should consider replacing it.
There is a significant amount of time and labor involved to drill out the old rain rail and reinstall it on a new top properly – without any wrinkles. If you are doing it yourself, and are sure your existing rain rail is in good shape then you can save some money by purchasing a new top without the rain rail. But, if you are using a professional installer, the amount of additional labor they will charge to do this work will likely offset any savings you have from not buying a new rain rail already installed.
DO YOU NEED NEW TENSION CABLES?
Most likely you will not need to buy new tension cables when replacing your convertible top.
Like most convertible tops, the Miata uses steel tension cables that are threaded into the pockets that run along the side windows. You can check your existing cables easily. With the top up and windows open, run your fingers along the edge of the top until you feel the cable inside edge of the top. If it feels tight, then it can most likely be reused when you replace your old convertible top. If it is loose, then it still may just need to be re-tensioned during the installation of the new top or you may need a new set of spring loaded tension cables.
An installer can also repair damaged tension cables, but if you would like to also replace the tension cables at the same time you replace your convertible top, choose your model year from the accessories to the right.
WINDOW
Includes a new tinted DOT approved plastic that is sewn-in for added durability.

with the Top or via email. Watch a few YouTube videos and it is an easy project. Takes two people …
The top came in a lot quicker than expected. Overall it’s a great top. It didn’t come with instructions, however a simple YouTube video did the trick. Would order from them again!
This top did not come with any instructions or rivets needed to attach the top to the frame. I ordered a black zipper plastic window top. Received a top with no zipper. Called to ask the price difference between zipper and no zipper and representative told me they do not have a no zipper model. I said that was interesting because I ordered a top that was supposed to have a zippered window as advertised and it did not have the zipper. I was then told the price difference was $10 and was refunded the difference. Found that to be a little odd. The top itself is fine but the lacking hardware and dishonest representative was enough to deter me from ordering from this company again.
Getting the top on the frame was very time consuming but fairly easy with two people. That said, I have two big issues.
1. Due to shipping, the rain rail was folded in a way that made it difficult to install on the car. Make sure you have a hair dryer or heat gun handy if you’re doing this on your own.
2. Once the top was on, I followed all instructions and made sure the top wasn’t cold before putting it down and guiding the creases on the vinyl. While doing this, the window snapped.
Overall, my car has a top again, so I’m happy. However, I’m disappointed that my brand new soft top will need to be taped up to remain watertight due to the crack in the window.
