The Mercedes SL Bottom Seat Cushion pads are manufactured using a “rubberized horsehair” padding material. “Rubberized horsehair” is a term applied to a material that is composed of sterilized curled hair, where each hair is impregnated with a synthetic rubber latex. This material is a resilient padding, equal to foam rubber and plastic polyurethane. It is nonallergenic and is resistant to mildew.

I ordered this pad for my Audi thinking it would be the same as Mercedes since Audi was part of Mercedes at the time.
Unfortunately it was too small to fit the seat frame. But I was able to return it with no problems at all.
Your pad material look to be very of a high quality, better than the original horsehair. Let me know if you have the larger pad as I sent you picture and drawings for.
