I read some reviews here that helped me pick out what turned out to be a great replacement top for my 1999 black Miata. Here's a summary of my experience:

Read about upgrading to the canvas top from the factory vinyl. Ordered it with a new rainrail and new cables--I wasn't going to install it and as one reviewer explained, you'll save on the installation. That guy was right.

It took about a week to get to me after ordering it. Everything was there, but to the non-pro, when I opened the box, I didn't find the new cables or rainrail that had already been installed (way better than taking the old stuff apart and reinstalling them on the new top). My mechanic assured me everything was there and he said it was straightforward getting it on.

Bottom line, great top. Great fit. No leaks. Much quieter. Road noise is dampened significantly from the old vinyl top, windows fit tight. Highly recommended. Great upgrade.

FIT GREAT AND LOOKS A LOT BETTER THAN THE FACTORY VYNAL TOP. HAVE HAD MULTIPLE CONPLEMENTS FROM VARIOUS PEOPLE. NOT JUST CAR PEOPLE HAVE NOTICED THE TOP THANKS WOULD DO IT AGAIN

I knew the top would be a challenge to install and it was!!! The problem was with the rain rail or rubber gasket material at the bottom of the top.This is the part of the top that you push onto the studs that are behind the seats (in front of the trunk area).The problem was that the rubber material was wrinkle and pucker and was rivited like that making it very hard to get the top to stay on the studs where the 10 mm nuts are. The top in THE instructions was very neat in the picture and laid very flat.I wish I had purchased that one).The other problem that this wrinkles cause was in was very hard and impossible for one man to reinstall. Once I got through this it was not bad at all I love the fit and finish of the top after the job was D O N E...

I was disappointed to find no directions or a website to download direction to install the top.
Secondly as a first time installer of a Conv. top I did not know what a rainrail was and thought it more like a drip rail, so I did not order it with the top. Your site gave me no help in this matter. After looking all over the web I found a site that gave directions for installation and also described how important it was to get the rainrail with the top.
You could do much better at helping your customers with this kind of information.

Purchased this top and installed it 11-12-11.Nice top very well made and fit like a glove or tighter. Quality is excellent. Would buy this again if needed.Installation was tough only because instructions were vague at best and left out some simple steps. Fortunatly I'm very mechanically inclined and was able to read between the lines. If you install this top yourself find and download DIY instructions from another site. Even with the poor instructions it was an easy install for me and took only about five hours form removal to replace. Great looking top.

This turned out to be an upgrade that has given my Miata an amazing facelift. I'm zooming around in style again! Two days after I ordered online, the box was at my door. I had an installer do the work.I am very pleased all the way around.
