For the 1990  to 1997 Mazda Miata, we have two plastic window convertible tops designs available. 

  1. OEM FACTORY STYLE 2-PC TOP FROM $299

  2. ONE PIECE BUDGET STYLE TOP FROM $249

The original factory top, referred to as the OE style top, is a 2 piece design with the window section zippered into the top deck section.  The window is a clear plastic.  The top deck is made with a deck seam down both sides and has quarter panels that overlap the window section. 

A non-factory 1 piece top is an economical alternative.  They are made from the same materials and quality, but because of the design change are less expensive than the OE style.  AutoTops Direct non-factory tops retain the original Deck Seams look, however, since it is one piece the window section does not have overlapping quarter panels.


DO YOU NEED A RAIN RAIL?

We offer both designs either with or without a rain rail.  A rain rail is a U-shaped, molded ABS plastic piece that attaches to the rear bottom of the convertible top.  It directs any water collected out drain holes to keep it from entering your interior cabin and trunk. 

Unless you top is leaking, you probably do not "need" a new rain rail, however, there are good reasons you should consider getting one anyway.

There is a significant amount of time and labor involved to drill out the old rain rail and reinstall it on a new top properly - without any wrinkles.  If you are doing it yourself, and are sure your existing rain rail is in good shape then you can save some money by purchasing a new top without the rain rail.  But, if you are using a professional installer, the amount of additional labor they will charge to do this work will likely offset any savings you have from not buying a new rain rail already installed.


HEAT SEALED SEAMS

All seams are Heat Sealed, and not just glued together.  Heat Sealing di-electrically welds the material together.  To add to the strength, the seams are reinforced with a double stitch for extra support.
